Site Progress Photos: Giant Hypermarket in Bandar Kinrara

Some of you might have notice this large hoarded up construction site in BK5 of Bandar Kinrara in Puchong. This large plot of land is surrounded by open spaces and is clearly visible from the Bukit Jalil Highway (or some people call it the Sungai Besi-Puchong Road).

The site will be a Giant hypermarket, evident from the project signboard and also after a check with their head office. Some of you might say, “Don’t they have another one in Puchong already, in Bandar Puteri?”.

Well, that one serves more of the Bandar Puteri area, and probably to compete with the popular Tesco, this one would probably draw its market from the huge untapped Kinrara and Bukit Jalil. At the moment, the nearest hypermarket in the area is Carrefour in Sri Petaling (Jusco in Puchong Jaya doesn’t count).

This should be good news to residents of Bandar Kinrara and projects such as Sierra Residency, Mutiara Bukit Jalil, Paragon Heights and Savanna.

Pilings works are in progress at the moment, according to the management, it should be ready by the end of next year.

  1. This is very good news for BK. When a hypermarket is ready to commit tens of million of RM, you can be sure that they have done their homework and research into the location.

  2. How’s the morning traffic from Kinrara to Bkt Jalil? Thinking of buying unit at Warna (22x80). Few more unit left.

  4. Most of us in BK could not understand why PBK/ MPSJ allowed Giant to build the new hypermarket right in the middle of BK. The impact of the new hypermarket:

The existing small grocery stores will close shop.
Possible influx of illegal aliens and the crime rate will be on the rise.
Accumulation of garbages and this will invite flies and other related diseases to the area.
Increasing traffic jams in the area.
There are existing Giant, TESCO and JUSCO which are within driving distance already!!! Didn’t we remember the cancelled wet market a few years back and yet silently we allowed the new hypermarket (with the same kind of impact) to be built in our beloved neighborhood???
Also, didn’t we comply with our gov policy not to build hypermarket in the residential area??? Or is it because Giant is good paymaster so that you guys can flout this regulation?
Please reply to this e-mail or call me at 03-20399880.

THE BOTTOMLINE IS THAT WE ARE AGAINST THE NEW GIANT HYPERMARKET!!!!

  5. i would say even though its convenient for us, residents staying nearby, but out of all, make sure the “pricing” & importantly “quality” assurance is the best among so many hypermarkets. I still prefer Cold Storage to be built near my house.
