Homes Surrounded by Water

With all the concern lately about global warming and rising sea levels, maybe the owners of the beautiful island homes may have start renovating to raise the floor levels…

Nonetheless, they are very beautiful homes, not to mention the awesome view.

Slow day for Property Malaysia today… one review in the works.

Let’s just hope global warming won’t make the water level in the lake rise any further. :)

Weird Small Japanese House

The Japanese city dwellers are well known for squeezing into small homes due to shortage of land and exorbitant real estate prices. But this doesn’t mean the homes are always dull and simple. There are many wonderfully designed homes that are really innovative. This one is a corner unit by Yashuhiro Yamashita.

Tetris Furniture

We usually don’t talk about furniture or anything other than properties on this blog, but this is too cute not to mention.

Its modular furniture that can transform and fit together like pieces in the tetris game.

The Northshore Gardens, Desa Parkcity

What can we say, Desa Parkcity is Desa Parkcity.

It’s happening, location is good, the address is prestigious, and if you go there for a drive around now, you can see for yourself how the implementation of the modern-chic town planning has been well executed. The different precincts are well laid out, and the landscaped Central Park district surrounding the lake has turned out pretty well. And most of all, we think they’ve captured the essence of modern design for the houses, like LeVenue, Zenia, Ridgewood, Adiva, et al. Well, actually, when you have 473 acres of freehold land, you pretty much do anything you want with it.

dpmp

Actually, scrolling through the archives, we’re kinda surprised we’ve not done any reviews on Desa Parkcity (DPC) before, in all the years of running the website. It’s pretty puzzling even to us (!) considering we’ve been here for a few of the previous launches even in the early days of this massive development. Ah well, better late than never.

dpcloc

But anyway, we’re talking about Northshore today. It isn’t DPC first condo project (it was probably Zenia) but its the first high end luxury condo here. It’s got a premium location within DPC, right next to the small commercial district, looking down on the soon to be completed lake, and also having a commanding view of KL, PJ and surrounding areas.

Northshore is a foray into luxury condo for DPC, in the realm of what you’d expect in Mont’Kiara today. Starting from nearly RM500psf, this is actually a different kind of environment than say, MK or Sri Hartamas. This is a master development by one party, and most of the areas here are landed residential units, unlike the aforementioned two areas, so there is little to compare with actually. Northshore employs a very stylish modern chic design, with glass and earthy tones dominating the facade. Glass and steel would have looked more impressive, but probably not so wise in view of the recent price increases.

There are 40 storeys in all, there is an impressive entrance foyer with high ceiling to greet visitors. There are 3 and a half floors for parking, and above that is a podium for the common facilities. They certainly look like they aim to impress with the facilities here. They have all the usual trappings here, with their fancy names like ‘pavilion’ and ‘floating gym’, etc. Of course when space isn’t an issue you have lots of things for facilities. But we like the large garden lawn area, where you can have a huge party, and not having your guests crammed into a small ‘function room’ (like other condos).

They have 8 units per floor, and there are 8 layout designs to choose from. There are small rectangular studio units at about 900sq.ft. (that’s the size of most normal 3 room apartments) with a room and study. The bulk of the units have 2+1 rooms and 3+1 rooms sized to about 2000sq.ft. The largest unit comes with 4+1 rooms and is 2454sq.ft. Penthouses are also available. They are targeting a wide range of target purchasers with the different type of units and sizes here.

It’s pretty expensive, that much we’ll say. But the design is appealing on many fronts, and besides, the current residents will probably list down the many good reasons why they feel its justified to accomodate that hefty price tag. The developer is throwing in some freebies, including free membership to the nearby club facilities, please check with the salespeople for details.

A Visit to NusaRhu

We were there for a good friend’s housewarming, couldn’t resist taking some photos of this rather new development. Nusarhu is located in a new area of Shah Alam, beyond Bukit Jelutong. It’s in the same vicinity as a clutch a few other developments, namely, Cahaya SPK, Kayangan Heights, Sunway Kayangan, Perdana Heights.

It’s not as far as most people think, but it’s a bit complicated to get there, and it is a relative new area with not much facilities at the moment. As an incentive, property prices are very cheap to entice the crowd, something Puchong was about 10 years ago. We can foresee massive growth in the same time span.

Enjoy the pics.

Poll: Service Apartments Above Shopping Malls

You’ve seen the concept before, a serviced apartment (or condominium), built on top of a shopping mall. Usually, they’re found in the city centre or dense commercial areas, to take advantage of the convenience of services and retail outlets ‘at your doorstep’.

They usually come with a commercial title, and are sized smaller or studio units to target the young, urban and mobile crowd.

So the question is, how do you feel about the concept of Service Apartments Above Shopping Malls?

Do you think it’s a great concept that will bring better than average returns to the investor? Are you looking to buy one of them yourself?

Or do you think it’s a concept that does not suit you at all?

Have your say and vote. Please only vote once, and tell all your friends to come here and vote, too. This poll will run for one week until 31 March 2008.

The Simpsons’ House in the Real World

Here’s something cute for the fans of the TV series The Simpsons.

Someone built an near exact replica of the Simpsons’ house in Springfield, with th matching interior right down to the cartoon coloured scheme. You can see the pics here.

I wonder how many episodes did they watch over and over again to get the details right?
